Abstract: This layer represents hydrology features within and adjoining Volusia County Florida and include polygons depicting rivers, creeks, lakes, ponds (natural and man-made), canals, basins, bays, reservoirs, inlets, burrow pits, and the Atlantic Ocean out to approximately one mile. This information was derived from previous data maintained by the Volusia County Property Appraiser’s Office GIS personnel and updated with LiDAR breakline features and digitized from aerial photography captured between February 14 and March 15, 2006. The Intracoastal Waterway boundary shown is from DGN files provided by the Florida Inland Navigation District and the Jacksonville Corps of Engineers. Retention pond data was obtained from the Volusia County Public Works Department GIS personnel. Additional boundaries for the St. Johns river were derived from heads up digitizing by Volusia County Property Appraiser’s Office GIS personnel and interns hired by the Volusia County IT Department. Questions or corrections should be brought to the attention of the County IT/GIS group at 386-736-5922. Purpose As one of the Volusia County’s base map data layers, hydrology is an integral part of the Volusia County Enterprise Geographic Information System. Base map data layers are accessed by personnel in most County departments for basic applications such as viewing, querying, and map output production. More advanced user applications may focus on property appraisal research, planning, public works, or utilities purposes. Restrictions on use There are no restrictions on use but this data does not represent a survey and is used at your own risk.
